Thank you all for a successful 2014 season of growing and giving!
On behalf of the farm team, thank you for a wonderful year. For many of our crops, our poundage significantly increased. The summer rains presented many challenges but that is what makes farming so interesting! Fresh produce was donated throughout five counties as more and more food pantries, soup kitchens and families hear of our mission. We were extremely blessed to receive grants from the Walbridge Fund, the Shineman Foundation, Syracuse Rotary Foundation, Community Foundation of Central New York, and Dewitt Rotary (who purchased all of our onions and seed potatoes). The grants provided funds for drainage swales and ditches to allow more land to be used for farming, a new well on the Tully farm, help with a purchase of a new tractor and help with our seeds and seedlings.
Over the winter months the farm board will be working hard to come up with both a sustainability strategy and a 3-5 year plan for the farm. We ask that you keep our board members in your prayers as they prepare the farm's future.
For those of you who visited our farm's new consignment shop at the corner of Route 20 and Field Lane in LaFayette, we thank you. Please remember that over Thanksgiving weekend our new selection of holiday cards will be online for those who wish to remember someone on their holiday list with a donation to the farm.
Finally, our farm manager Rick is available during the winter months to speak to your church, fraternal, civic or school group. Remember, it is never too early to sign up a group for 2015. Please email the farm or call Elizabeth at 810-4264 to schedule a time for Rick to speak or to come out next year!
The next farm email will be in mid-April so until then, may God bless each one of you.
